What does it mean for a crane to be introduced onto the market?

A machine or safety component is considered introduced onto the market when it is made available after undergoing constructive modifications that aren’t part of the ordinary or extraordinary administration. The current art. 2 lett. h) of Italian Leg. Decree 17/10 defines introduction onto the market more succinctly as: “the first time a machine is made available within the community with aims of distribution or use”. In these cases, the crane must have CE certification.
Art. 71 clause 5 of Italian Leg. Decree 81/08 provides food for thought, affirming that: “modifications made to machines to improve their safety conditions regarding clause 1, or clause 4 letter a) number 3, do not amount to introductions onto the market, as long as they do not involve modifications to how they are used or their performance”.
