A new mission abroad for Imola Gru, called from the manufacturer’s headquarters to carry out an intervention on a Manitowoc 18000 lattice boom crawler crane. The machine, which operates in Porto Tolero in the city of Ploče, in Croatia, is a real giant, with a payload of up to 750 tonnes and a load-lifting radius from 36 to over 97 metres.
It is used to place the poles for an underwater barrier which will allow for the expansion of the Croatian port. This is a very delicate operation that requires absolute precision, and it is carried out entirely with the use of a GPS system, which guarantees the correct positioning.
Carrying out an intervention on these large machines requires experience and expertise, especially when it involves electronic problems. Cabling, calibrations and inspections of connections and sensors are complex operations that must be conducted by specialised technicians. This why Manitowoc entrusted Imola Gru with the operation on this machine, guaranteeing an immediate recovery of the equipment and its placing operation for the customer.
