Another assembly, which saw us as central players, with the city of Bologna in the background. A POTAIN MDT 218 crane needed assembling, commissioned by Coop. Costruzioni S.R.L. for a construction site in Piazza Minghetti, in the city’s restricted traffic zone.
After organising the many permits and machines required from head office, our technicians started the demanding intervention.
This crane is assembled on tower components of 2×2 metres, operates with a 60 metre articulated boom, and reaches a working height of 40 metres.
The MDT 218 is the fourth model in the MDT City line, and makes use of the latest generation of mechanisms controlled by a frequency converter, to provide precise and efficient rotation, lifting and distribution.
Despite the adverse weather conditions, the assembly was successfully completed.
Considering the extremely limited space and the large dimensions of the crane components, it was necessary to assemble the boom in two stages. The team of specialised Imola Gru technicians completed the first stage with the assembly of 30 metres of boom weighing 9.5 tonnes, and the second with the remaining 30 metres, weighing 1.5 tonnes.
The professionalism needed for this intervention was supported by the specific experience that our company has gained over time.
