The employer must submit any work equipment included in Attachment VII of Italian Leg. Decree no. 81/2008 for periodic inspections with the purpose of evaluating its effective state of conservation and efficiency of safety measures, with the frequency indicated in the aforementioned attachment.
INAIL is in charge of the first periodic inspection after equipment or systems have been put in service, and it will provide this inspection within 45 days.
For subsequent inspections, the employer may freely choose whether to request the inspection from ASL, or, if envisaged by regional law, from ARPA, or from other qualified public or private entities that provide inspections according to the methods described in article 71, clause 13 of Italian Leg. Decree no. 81/2008.
The cost of the inspections is regulated by a designated Tariffs Decree of the 23rd November 2012, which fixes the rate for each type of equipment and for each type of inspection: first inspection and subsequent inspections.
